Nice Things to think about:
 
 
1. God wants spiritual fruit, not religious nuts.
2. Dear God, I have a problem, it's me.
3. Growing old is inevitable, growing UP is optional.
4. There is no key to happiness.  The door is always open
5. Silence is often misinterpreted, but never misquoted.
6. Do the math.....count your blessings.
7. Faith is the ability to not panic.
8. Laugh every day, it's like inner jogging
9. If you worry, you didn't pray. if you pray, don't worry.
10. As a child of God, prayer is kind of like calling home everyday.
11. Blessed are the flexible for they shall not be bent out of shape.
12. The most important things in your  house are the people.
13. When we get tangled up in our problems, be still.
God wants us to be still so He can untangle the knot
14. A grudge is a heavy thing to carry.
15. He who dies with the most toys is still dead.
16. It is all right to sit on your pity pot every now and then.
Just be sure to flush when you're done.

When I Was Quiet


"They didn't see me when I was quiet."


That's what my five-year-old said.


I picked him up from school and as usual, asked him how his day went. I often ask him what he did during the day.


"I got my name put on the board for talking," he said.


The teachers try to be strict about maintaining discipline. It's a good thing. Even though they can't use the paddle anymore as they did in my day, they do the best they can with the techniques that they are allowed to use.


If your name is on the board, you can't play during recess.


You can't get on the swings, the slide, or play any of the sports. If your name is on the board, you're grounded.


"I got my name on the board, but they didn't see me when I was quiet so I couldn't get it off."


Remember the last speeding ticket that you got?


They didn't see you when you were going slower and traveling at a reasonable speed. Down the hill and in a hurry and here come the blue lights.


They didn't see you when you were quiet!


The boss catches you just when you dose for a second (well maybe longer than a second) after diligently working all day.


They didn't see you when you were quiet.


Your wife catches your eyes wandering as you admire the architecture of an elegant building that just happens to have a shapely female in front of it.


They didn't see you when you were quiet.


Why doesn't the world take into account all of the times that you were quiet?


Why do you suffer so long for a moment's indiscretion?


How can a few minutes take an eternity to make up for?


Because of one of life's simple principles, it's a lot easier and faster to mess up than to clean up.


Harsh words uttered in five seconds can damage a relationship for five years.


All of us are still in school. We still have teachers. We still pass or fail tests. There are still paddles in one form or another and there is still the board.


With many of the things in our lives, we simply need to slow down and be quiet.


That way we won't miss playtime.

The Life Stage, Choices and Actions

As the leading performer in your life, you choose the actions (or inactions) within each breath of your existence.


My acting teacher Micah told us about the choices an actor continually makes while performing. Each gesture, tone of voice, response to another character marks an internal decision what the character they are playing would do in each moment and then doing it.


So applying that as you are the performer on your own life stage, each action or inaction in turn has a significant effect upon everyone and everything else which comes into contact with you. The choice then takes on the ripple effect as the people and things you effect come into contact with other people and things and so on and so on and so on.


This morning, I tried to log onto the internet. I had a really long "possibility" list (my terminology for "to do" list) and was frustrated because for some reason I was not connecting to my ISP. I was growing more and more perturbed when I took a moment to look closely at my Log In name. It has 4 zeroes in it, and only 3 were showing. I added a fourth zero and bingo, I connected. The "0" was the magic connecting number.


Imagine if I had paid attention initially. I would have spent less time grousing and more time being effective. I almost gave up and said "Do it later!" before I had my "0" eureka moment.


It's a perfect example of how a simple action of noticing, tweaking, persevering, and forgiving myself for the inaccuracy has an impact upon others. It is positively changing YOUR life!

  THE WORLD'S MOST COMMUNICABLE DISEASE
 
There is a story in circulation about an optimistic farmer who
couldn't wait to greet each new day with a resounding, "Good morning,
God!" He lived near a woman whose morning greeting was more like, "Good
God. Morning?" They were each a trial to the other. Where he saw
opportunity, she saw problems. What brought him contentment  brought her
discontentment.
 
One bright morning he exclaimed, "Look at the beautiful sky! Did you
ever see such a glorious sunrise?"
 
"Yeah," she countered. "It'll probably get so hot the crops will
scorch!"
 
During an afternoon shower, he commented, "Isn't this wonderful?
Mother Nature is giving the corn a drink today!"
 
"And if it doesn't stop before too long," came the sour reply, "we'll
wish we'd taken out flood insurance on the crops!" And so it went.
 
Convinced that he could instill some awe and wonder in this hardened
woman, he bought a remarkable dog. Not just any mutt, but the most
expensive, highly trained and gifted dog he could find. The animal was
exquisite! It could perform remarkable and impossible feats that, the
farmer thought, would surely amaze even his neighbor. So he invited her
to watch his dog perform.
 
"Fetch!" he commanded, as he tossed a stick into a lake, where it
bobbed up and down in the rippling water. The dog bounded after the
stick, walked on the water, and retrieved it.
 
"What do you think of that?" he asked, smiling.
 
"Hmmm," she frowned. "Can't swim, can he?"
 
I believe that attitudes are the world's most communicable diseases.
They can be as catching as any known virus. And when negative and
cynical, they can be just as deadly.
 
But a stubbornly positive attitude can often make the difference
between happiness and misery, between health and illness and even
between life and death. Once infected, you'll never be the same.
