The Cat Respectfully Remembers

Light Of My Heart

She was born
an enlightened being.

Her eyes transparent
jade
and emerald.
She has the smallest
ears;
an aristocratic nose.

And skin softer than
silk.

When she was
a teenager she brought
me food.
Little presents.
Climbed to the
highest tops of trees.
Playing showgirl.

She walked with me
in magical forests,
where both of us
were enchanted
by elves, rabbits and
mystical spiderwebs.

Grown
a little older
she sits timelessly
in the gardens of
eternal knowledge,
where the warm sun
shines on her
delicate face.
Looking at
dancing butterflies.

Watching how
the grass grows.
And elated
by
the smell
of thousands
of flowers
all around her.
And within her.

At night
she lies with me.
Her tiny velvet hands
in mine.
Kissing my face.
Reciting fairy-tales
till I fall asleep.

Her love
has no boundaries.
Her graciousness
no limits.
Her intelligence
pure.
Her ancient wisdom
unhindered by logic.

She sees what I do not.
She is nine pounds
of pure light:

my beloved feline.

angel catRemembering Some Beloved Cats

The grey cat is Minki, she was our much-loved cat for 16 years and it was one of the hardest things for us to do when we had to have her put down.

Tygress
Still "Her Majesty"

Prowler
Brooding Prowler

Lil Bit
Why I Fell In Love

The grey-with black stripes tiger is Tyggress, when she still was healthy. She was a cat full of regal attitude, and got her way merely by staring at you. She was hit with hyperthyroidism and lost much of the weight that made her seem a queen. Tyg died in November 2005, nearly 16 years old; by then, she weighed about 4 lbs, and was all skin and bones. But she refused to die for months, spending a lot of time on my lap, staring deeply into my eyes with glowing, peridot-green eyes.     The black -- also much heavier in the picture than now -- is Tyg's full-blooded sister, Prowler, now past 17 years. She, too, has over-active thyroid and is losing weight. Just like her sister, she doesn't hide, but stays on my lap and stares with glowing yellow eyes directly into my eyes. The grey-and-white looking directly into the camera is Li'l Bit, who came mewing in distress to the front window three years ago. He had been abandoned; but when I went to the front door, he bounded to me and literally leaped into my arms and started kissing me. Now he constantly kisses me on the lips; and when company comes, he's in their lap to give and get some love. Li'l Bit gave Prowler a reason to live when her sister died; they have become close friends. When Prowler dies, I will need to get Li'l Bit a playmate, as he wants a cat who will chase him and whom he can chase.

THE CAT'S MEOW Needs To Hear From You!

Let us know
what you like, what you hate, what you want to see changed, and what we should add to TCM. If we are going to continue, we need to hear from YOU.
This is a labor of love for the editors, funded mainly from our own pockets....
Let us know that we are getting through to someone who cares that we are here!

PLEASE Let Us See YOUR Cat!
At the suggestion of one of our readers, we'd like to try something new. As you probably know, there are many sites where catlovers can share pictures of their cats and talk about them with other furparents. To share a pic of your feline,
send us
:

  • A clear jpeg of your cat - at least 150x150 px in size (that's about 2" square)

  • Your (real) name

  • Your street address

  • Your city and state/province

  • Your country, if not USA

  • The Cat's name

  • A short comment about the cat

We have to collect some of this data for legal reasons.
Only your first name, city & state/province, country, the cat's name, and your comment will appear in The Cat's Meow
All pictures will be printed as space permits.
We reserve the right to reject any unclear or objectionable images.
We reserve the right to resize images as necessary to fit within the newsletter.
Send your cat pic and info to us today!

Get TCM Without Using E-mail!

We have 2 new ways for you to receive your favorite newsletter for catlovers! As you may be aware, many ISPs have declared all bulk mail, from any source -- whether it's your TCM subscription that you asked for on our website or received as a gift from a friend or an ad for a fake Rolex -- to be Spam. Therefore, we can no longer guarantee that you can receive guaranteed delivery of the new issue notices that we send you. If you use AOL, MSN, Hotmail, Juno, Excite, Comcast/Earthlink, or Yahoo as your ISP (the folks who provide your internet connection), we'd like to encourage you to use either our new RSS Reader or the new
EZ Access Toolbar with Daily Inspirational Cat Quotes instead of "maybe" receiving your issue notifications via email -- IF your ISP decides to deliver it. Both have quick access links to your favorite TCM pages built in. Both will allow you one-click access to the newest issues of The Cat's Meow whenever it goes online...because neither the RSS Reader nor the EZ Access Toolbar uses email. Help us to help you to get what you asked for! Get TCM by RSS today!

Help Us Name TCM's New Mascots!

Meet TCM's New Mascots!

Our websites will soon be undergoing an upgrade! Thanks to PSP lessons (and a lot of practice!), we're now able to create some of our own artwork...and we thought the site needed some uniquely identifiable purr-sonalities.

But, these jazz-dancing cats need names. Won't you please help us name them? Send your names (one male and one female) in for consideration! We'll pick the ones we like best...or, if there are several entries we like, we may let you, our readers, pick the names. Either way, we're sure you'll enjoy seeing these "swinging" cats as they guide you through our updated website!

More Cat Food Recalled

Prevent your cat from dying!Don't feed grain-based food!
